Squirrels
Squirrels are part of the rodent family and are known for their large, bushy tails. Although they are cute, these pests can be a serious threat to homeowners across the country. Squirrels are highly adaptive creatures that are able to thrive in residential neighborhoods, parks and many other places where humans often congregate. Squirrels also love to seek shelter indoors, and it is common for them to build nests in attics, chimneys or basements. In addition to nesting inside, squirrels are also constantly chewing through almost anything they find, from power lines, to garden plants, to indoor walls; they can cause serious damage.
Squirrel pest control can be difficult. Squirrels are stubborn creatures and are very reluctant to abandon their nests. There are no poisons or sprays that are approved for squirrel control, so these rodents must be trapped and physically removed. For this reason, it is best to prevent them from getting into your house or yard. Making sure that windows, doors and other entry points into your house are properly sealed can go a long way in keeping these pests outside. It is also a good idea to make sure that bird feeders and outdoor trash cans are tightly sealed so squirrels don’t use them as a source of food.
