Moles
There are seven known species of moles tearing up yards across North America. Often mistaken as part of the rodent family, moles are insectivores that feed off of garden pests like grubs and slugs. The average mole is 7 inches long with short, dark brown fur on its body except for its paws and snout, which are hairless.
While moles eat insects that can be harmful to your lawn or garden, they also do quite a bit of damage. Moles create underground tunnels, known as runways, that can ruin gardens, pull-up grass by the roots, and disfigure lawns. Moles have few known enemies, and since they rarely leave the safety of their underground runway system, they can be elusive and difficult to remove.
