Grubs
Grubs are actually the larvae stage of many different insects, with beetle grubs being some of the most damaging. These pesky lawn pests live below the surface and feed off of grass roots. They also enjoy eating your vegetable garden from the bottom up and the bane of many a gardener.
Grubs are most active in mid-to-late summer, but the effects of their feeding frenzy may not be noticed until the fall. The best time to tackle grub extermination is in the early summer when they are at their most vulnerable state.
While adult beetles pose their own threat to a lawn, it’s the grubs that can cause the most damage. Because they feed on grass roots, they deplete the plants from water and nutrients. If you notice drought-like symptoms– even though there is enough moisture in the air – it may be time to treat your lawn from grubs.
