Fleas

Flea Common PestFleas are small, dark in color, wingless insects that feed on the blood of their hosts. Extremely resilient and difficult to eliminate, fleas are an annoyance to both animals and humans. They lay miniscule, white eggs; their larvae obtain nourishment from organic matter, such as the feces of adult fleas. Once they become adults, fleas feed on blood only so they can reproduce.

A flea usually lays its eggs on the host itself. If conditions are favorable, fleas can survive for several months; however, they typically only survive for about two weeks. Fleas reproduce rapidly, and a home infestation can be severe. There are a variety of treatments and maintenance tactics that effectively kill fleas and prevent them from invading again.
